James Rogerson – Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing
James Rogerson is a practice manager at three vet practices in the North West; he has decided to complete a level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, with ProCo, “to become a better employer.”
Practice manager at Vets4 Pets in Preston, Lytham St Anne’s and Preston Capitol, James explained his decision to become an apprentice.
He said: “I recruit a lot of apprentices, so I thought I would be a better mentor for nurse apprentices if I completed an apprenticeship and understood the pressures of completing the qualification.”
Asked how he split his time being a practice manager and an apprentice, James explained that it’s “very hard” to juggle his time.
“Splitting my time is hard. During exam periods I have to take leave so then I can concentrate on revising. I spend most of my weekends studying for my apprenticeship as during the week I’m a practice manager.
“It does work well spending one day a week at ProCo as it helps me to concentrate on studying the diploma. The tutors at ProCo understand my predicament, which helps.”
